Earlier this year, our friends at Purple Hills filmed a behind-the-scenes look at Victoria Cannabis Company in a video titled VCC — BC Bud at Its Finest! They captured our cultivators, growers, and the essence of our craft— truly great bud and we’re proud to partner with Purple Hills.

For the VCC team, cannabis isn’t just a product—it’s culture, connection, and history.

“This plant has given me everything that I have. I met my wife through it. Most of my friends, most of my traveling has come through cannabis. I owe this plant a lot and I want to honor it in that way. So, I’m not chasing shiny objects every 10 minutes. I’m trying to tell stories. I’m trying to create new stories and I want to be a part of that,” said Kyp.

That’s the VCC difference: honouring the plant while innovating for tomorrow. From seafoam to straight cuts, from legacy to legal, Victoria Cannabis Company keeps BC cannabis culture alive—one carefully crafted pre-roll at a time.

When you spark a joint, the first thing that hits isn’t the THC percentage—it’s the nose. For VCC’s VP of Brand, Kyp Rowe, aroma is more than a detail. It’s memory, place, and tradition all rolled into one.

“The nose reminds me of being in Ucluelet. You’ve got the seafoam. It’s just the smell of the forest in the ocean. It’s light and you’re lucky if it’s 17% THC. Burns beautifully. But this is your daily driver.” said Kyp Rowe, VP Brand.

That scene—coastal forest, ocean spray—captures what defines BC craft cannabis. VCC doesn’t chase numbers. It’s about creating flower that feels like home.

“At the Farmgate, I get to see it firsthand — people walk in, crack a bag, and the look on their face says it all. That nose-over-numbers moment is why we do what we do. It’s about giving people something they can actually feel connected to,” said, Jamee Coubrough, VCC Farmgate Manager.

A Culture That Shaped Canada

For Kyp, cannabis has always been part of BC’s identity.

“Came out from Ontario when I was 20 and I went to UBC and did my undergrad there and was overtaken with how strong cannabis culture was on campus and the quality of cannabis out here in British Columbia. That was around the same time that cannabis culture and Hemp BC were starting off on Hastings Street.”

Long before legalization, that era built the cannabis culture we celebrate today. VCC honors that legacy with every cultivar we grow, setting a standard for premium cannabis in Canada.

Always Be Hunting

VCC thrives on the same instinct BC growers have always had: always searching for flavour.

“One of the things that I got really excited about with VCC is our ability to do the hunt to look for new flavour profiles that aren’t currently in the market. Taylor and I got together, bashed our heads, and thought to ourselves, well, you know, we only have a finite amount of genetics that are out there in the market. Well, how about creating our own?” said Kyp.

From the citrusy brightness of Pomelo Skunk to the bold fuel notes of G-Wagon, each cultivar is chosen for how it burns, tastes, and feels—not just its THC.

Patience in the Cure

Flavour may be king, but patience ensures its reign. Craft cannabis is built on time, not shortcuts.

“Two two and a half [weeks] for the initial dry. And then you’ve got two weeks for bucking, trimming, and then once everything’s trimmed up and put into bags, then we put it to bed in secure storage for a minimum of 30 days to cold cure it. We find that helps with more of a blending of flavours like curing wine in a sense. It’s finding itself.”

Our straight cut pre-rolls benefit from this process: clean burn, great ash, and flavour that holds from the first pull to the last.

More Than a Product

For the VCC team, cannabis isn’t just a product—it’s culture, connection, and history.

“This plant has given me everything that I have. I met my wife through it. Most of my friends, most of my traveling has come through cannabis. I owe this plant a lot and I want to honor it in that way. So, I’m not chasing shiny objects every 10 minutes. I’m trying to tell stories. I’m trying to create new stories and I want to be a part of that,” said Kyp.
